# Tsogo Sun Buys Stake in Emerald Resort and Casino

A consortium headed by the South African casino and hospitality group, Tsogo Sun, has purchased a stake in Emerald Resort and Casino. The value of the sale was not disclosed to the media.
The stake was sold to Tsogo Sun by Metropolitan Gaming, an affiliate of Silver Point Capital, which operates casinos that were previously owned by London Clubs International.
The sale of its South African interest will allow Metropolitan Gaming to place more focus on its core markets in the United Kingdom, as well as the developing Egyptian gambling market.

## Farewell Statement to South African Gambling
Michael Silberling, the chief executive officer of Metropolitan Gaming issued a statement on behalf of the company in which he outlined the reasons for its departure from the South African casino industry.
“Following the addition of the iconic Park Lane Club to our portfolio of casinos in the UK earlier this year, the sale of our interest in Emerald Resort and Casino reflects our focused strategy to invest in and develop the business within our primary markets,” he said.
“We want to thank all our employees at Emerald Resort and Casino past and present for their hard work, professionalism and loyalty, particularly during the global COVID-19 pandemic. We very much look forward to following their progress and successes over the years to come.”
