The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Gambling Board, recently hosted a career expo that welcomed nearly 1,000 students from 19 schools in the Nelson Mandela Bay area. This event aimed to provide Grade 11 and 12 learners, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, with a broad perspective on potential career paths. The expo featured 25 exhibitors, ranging from potential employers and educational institutions to professionals from hospitality, banking, retail, and healthcare sectors
Tati Tsunke, General Manager at Boardwalk, highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available within Sun International. These opportunities extend beyond traditional roles to include sectors like HR, legal, IT, gaming/casino management, and finance. "Our goal is to educate and support our youth as they start their career journeys, showcasing the various job possibilities that our economy has to offer," Tsunke explained.
The career expo also served as a platform for motivational speeches, with Dr. Ntomboxolo Ngxesha, Senior Director of Supply Chain Management at the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, sharing her personal journey and encouraging the students to pursue their dreams with determination. Additionally, the event emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive digital footprint in today's digital age, with insights from Professor Noluxolo Gcaza of Nelson Mandela University and the founder of the Cyberculture Foundation. Over 950 learners committed to managing their online presence responsibly.
