The African gaming and hospitality group, Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resorts has expanded its portfolio and taken some of its products online for the first time. PalaceBet.co.za was launched by the group this week, and will offer South Africans the opportunity to bet on sports and play live games.
Peermont, which operates the legendary Emperors Palace Casino, was awarded a sports betting license by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board earlier this year.
A visit to the new PalaceBet.co.za site presents players with what the group calls: “your kingdom to the best in online sports betting entertainment.”
“As an entertainment leader, we provide the keys to the kingdom, unlocking the finest in online sports betting action and the most competitive odds on all your favourite sports including soccer, rugby, tennis, cricket and everything else! Whether you’re a punter, casual better or a newbie, you’re a champion with us. “
The chief executive officer of Peermont, Nigel Atherton spoke at the launch of the new online betting site. He said that gaming is the core of the group's competency and, as such, the launch of an online sports betting platform is the next evolution to Peermont's offering. Atherton said that Peermont has always been "on the pulse of the gaming industry", and taking the pedigree online and launching a premier sports betting brand was the next logical step. PalaceBet.co.za is an amalgamation of Peermont's leading Emperors Palace resort in Gauteng and the parent company.
According to Atherton: "In our minds it made sense to leverage off our flagship brand by making use of the name Palace and combining it with elements from the Peermont design."
The sports betting software will be provided by the industry-leading sports betting brand, DraftKings, complemented by the games by Evolution Gaming, Bet Games and Bitville Gaming.
According to the general manager of PalaceBet, Iain Gutteridge, sports books are exploding on the national landscape. Add to that the growing appetite for online betting, with enthusiasts looking for quality sports action, and PalaceBet.co.za could not have launched at a better time. Gutteridge has been part of the Peermont family for over two decades and was one of the key people to push for the launch of the online platform.
“With the world rapidly changing due to COVID-19, it made sense for us to accelerate our foray into the market and provide a digital space that reflects our values and service ethos,” he said.
